How yoga makes you hot!
How twists, inversions and core work can all help to keep the inner fires burning this winter. By Neil Patel
Winter is upon us — and there is a chill in the air!
Chi Kri Yoga recommends three types of asana to include in your winter practice to keep the heat up. Include these moves three times a week in your practice, to keep you cooking with gas throughout this season.
1. TwistsÂ
Everything slows down in the cold. To keep your organs, digestion and elimination active, twist them. Ardha Matsyendrasana is the recommended twist of choice.
2. InversionsÂ
Circulation slows down in the cold. (Partly because you may not move as much.) Inversions, will remedy that. I’d recommend a version of the shoulderstand (or Plough Pose).
3. CoreÂ
The digestive system needs heat (agni) to function well. Twenty minutes of core exercises (abdomen, oblique/sides and lower back) keep the fires on, in your body.
Just remember, TIC (Twists, Inversions and Core) — and do them three times a week to keep hot this winter!
