Law of Attraction
How to master your manifestation practice. By Salarah Starre
The Law of Attraction is an extremely powerful spiritual law and works on the basis that ‘likes attract like’ and ‘what you think about will come about’. Ultimately, we can manifest and attract into our lives whatever it is we put focus on. Before we even start manifesting, however, it’s important to ensure that we have the appropriate foundations in place, for the manifestation process to be effective.
During the past 16 years I’ve coached thousands of clients focusing on helping them manifest everything from new careers, relationships or improved health and wellbeing. Time and time again I have seen the same blocks come up for people trying to manifest, and these blocks show up for newbies and master manifestors alike. Blocks sabotage our dreams and manifest the opposite of what we want. Using these tips will help you manifest from mess to magic.
LAYING THE FOUNDATIONS
A lot of people manifest with wobbly foundations and just like a house, you have to build strong foundations to weather any storm and to avoid problems further down the line. When beginning your manifestation journey, whether implementing it for yourself or teaching it as part of your yoga/mindfulness practice, it is paramount that you are present. And by being present you need to engage all your senses and recognise the beauty around you.
The Law of Attraction works on the basis that where focus goes energy flows, and so the more you notice the miracles of everyday life, the more everyday life miracles will come as a result of that. Mindfulness takes us into that which already exists: if we doubt that miracles happen, we can look at the way food is grown from the earth…it is a beautiful gift. When you notice the little things in life, more things will come to you to appreciate.
At the same time, we need to be present and appreciate the people who we love around us already in our lives. If we are trying to manifest more of something, we need to appreciate the gifts we already have —the Law of Attraction is about activating the frequency of the thing that we desire within ourselves. We can do this by being present and witnessing moment by moment everything that’s already happening for us.
Make time for fun and play. The Law of Attraction is about raising our vibrations and activating our frequency to make us feel good — be that soulful music, yoga or gardening. Doing more of what we love on a regular basis as this creates the energy inside which is the magnetism to activate our manifestation.
Take time to celebrate your achievements and accomplishments. The more we focus on what we have done, the more we attract to us to do, reinforcing our ability, our power of attraction and that the universe is constantly bringing us wonderful opportunities.
MANIFESTATION BLOCKS AND HOW TO COMBAT THEM
When coaching, there are frequent blocks I identify when clients say they are struggling to manifest. Many people claim to not get what they want; they get the opposite of what they want or the universal timeline is not as they’d expected it to be. There’s a book called Ordering From the Cosmic Kitchen which explains how you need to trust the universal chef and allow time for all the ingredients to come together to make a delicious meal! I often ask clients what happens when they chase a chicken? They always answer: “It runs away!” Manifestation works in the same way. We have to be open and wait for it to come to us for the perfect timing.
1. Mindset
You have to have your mind on your side. If your mindset is fixed and believes you can’t change, then you won’t. You must be at least willing to believe that it’s possible to make changes. If you are affirming something but there’s still a part of you that doesn’t believe it will happen, you need to use a bridger statement which are very powerful in manifestation practices, for example: “I am willing to believe that it is possible for me to…”
This will help you get into the believing state and then kick-start the manifestation process. Instead of saying “I can’t” ask the universe to ‘show you how’ which opens a whole host of possibilities. It’s important to remember the brain can be changed; you can indeed mould and change your mindset to align to your dreams.
TIP: To prove to yourself that you can do something, write down an example of something you achieved in your past that you initially thought was not possible. This is proof that you can do and achieve as you desire.
2. Limiting beliefs
We often take on the belief patterns from others over the years and it’s important to say that some of these can be positive. However, you need to know how to identify and change negative beliefs. In essence, limiting beliefs are designed to keep you safe — there’s always a positive intention behind them.
For example, thinking you're not worthy or not good enough means that you won’t take action because you might fail, so here the limiting belief is serving the purpose of saving you from failure. When manifesting, however, this limiting belief would be holding you back and hindering you. So it's important to realise when a limiting belief serves a purpose and when it prevents you from manifesting a desired life change.
A limiting belief is just a thought that’s been thought and thought! With consistency and persistence, focus and determination, if you show up for yourself every day and say, “I’m willing to believe that I can do this” — and take it a step further by saying this in the mirror to yourself — you can overcome the belief. It’s worth noting here that if the limiting belief is linked to a past trauma, then a deeper dive session with a coach or therapist is recommended to help with clearance.
TIP: A crucial step in overcoming a limiting belief is awareness. Many of us are unaware that we’re unaware! We can only make changes when awareness is present and the door of opportunity is open.
3. Jealousy
Of all the emotions humans show, jealousy is one of the most common and as manifestors we know how unsettling it can be. It tends to bring out the worst in us and because we are aware that where attention goes energy flows, feelings of jealousy can leave us feeling even more panicky. Comparing our lives to other people’s lives is a great breeding ground for jealousy. It shows we are not happy in our own lives, so we get consumed by noticing the lack in our lives when we see how full another person’s life appears to be.
Simply put, jealousy is a manifestation blocker. It’s useless, destructive and a waste of our essential manifestation energy. Despite knowing this, the feelings of jealousy are real and uncomfortable. Jealousy is a manifestation block that lowers your vibration because it means you stay in a place of lack and continue to see more of what you don’t have. Whilst your focus is on another, you will miss opportunities and won’t see what is available to you.
As a manifestor you need to recognise that jealousy holds a positive power. The universe is actually constantly showing you what is possible through other people. Know that if you are seeing it, the universe is reminding you to keep doing the work because it is possible and coming!
TIP: Every time you feel jealous, say thank you to the universe for showing you what is possible for you! Remember, what is possible in the world for others, is possible for you. You are seeing evidence of what you have the potential to create.
4. Focus on what you do want, not what you don’t
Many of us fall into the trap of focusing on what we don’t want or what we don’t have. As focus goes, energy flows — if you focus on what you don’t have, you are actually creating a manifestation block in attracting what you essentially do want.
When you focus on the lack of something in your life, you will notice how low you can begin to feel. Instead, focus on all the good that is happening wherever you can. Your mind does not know what internal imagery is real or imagined. Therefore, whatever you show your mind, it believes it to be true. So you may as well think thoughts that are in alignment with what you want to create for yourself!
Becoming a great manifestor involves being clear on what you want and being willing to find solutions and take steps in order to get there.
Be proactive and take steps in the direction of your desire. Setting goals is similar to putting a postcode into a satellite navigation system, which guides you to where you want to go in the quickest and easiest way.
TIP: Instead of feeling sad and down that life is not what you want it to be, take time to think about and get clear on what you would like it to look like by focusing on what you DO want to experience and keep a gratitude journal to help you focus on all the good that is happening in your life.
5. Daily habits
Bad habits can block you from manifesting your dreams. Waking up in the morning and thinking about the doom and gloom ahead does not clear space for the manifestation of change.
Every day, before the mind starts racing and before you even get out of bed, spend a few minutes visualising how you want your day to be, and the person you want to be. Imagine certain circumstances during the day unfolding exactly as you wish.
TIP: Bring the visualisation of your ideal day to where you picture your happiest, most confident and most abundant self.
