Now you’re a qualified yoga teacher, what’s next in this immense and wonderful world of yoga for you? By Lucy Leslie

What comes next after yoga teacher training?

I remember feeling overwhelmed by the vastness of yoga initially and knowing I needed to continue my studies to be credible in studios and gyms that had offered me work, especially once my fear of standing up front and speaking in public was conquered.

As a senior yoga teacher, my suggestion to my graduates is to study specific areas that interest you in greater depth. My own school offers a more reflective advanced programme of learning that intends to animate the minds of teachers who will, in turn, inspire their students to learn about and live in yoga, thereby bringing about a positive change...one class at a time. The 300- hour trainings are often more flexible timewise and can be completed over as much as two years or more, which suits working teachers and parents.

Module-based, these further trainings allow us to cherry pick the shorter courses we now want to specialise in, which most certainly will include a more in-depth focus on asana, sequencing, alignment & class planning especially as we start teaching intermediate students with ample prior experience.

Chair Yoga; Children’s Yoga; The Hot 26 Sequence; Yoga Therapy; Pregnancy & Postnatal Yoga; Yin & Restorative Yoga; Hands-On Yoga Adjustments; Advanced Teaching Skills; Yoga Philosophy; Teaching Pranayama; Business & Marketing for Yoga; Creative Yoga Sequencing; Yoga Class Theming; Teaching Vinyasa Flow.

Another impetus for enrolling on a 300-hour advanced teacher training is the realisation that as we build our yoga business, we begin to know what works for our students and what we want to focus on. We become ready to delve deeper into the areas that will serve our students and their needs as we embark on our own journey.

What does a 300-hour training deliver beyond my 200 hours?

A 300-hour advanced teacher training is designed to deepen understanding of the fundamental principles of yoga and to enhance teaching skills to a level that is beyond the 200-hour learning. Sussex Yoga Training's advanced yoga teacher training prepares its trainees to teach concepts and methods of yoga that are more nuanced, detailed and subtle, with greater understanding than the 200-hour course or Level 3 diploma allow for.
