Sunny Peta
Sunny Peta specialises in yoga for the aging body. As a 70 yr-old with a 35 yr yoga practice, glaucoma, mild COPD, dodgy knees, and iffy hips she understands, and has compassion for, the aging process.
Yoga has been part of my life for 35 years beginning at an urban ashram in London. As an elder approaching 70, I qualified to teach at the age of 66 after a career as Britain's first Flirt Coach. It made sense to specialise in elders because I understand the limitations of the aging body. My 'students' range in age from 60 to 75. The class incorporates easy somatic warm-up movements and eliminates poses that are not suitable for seniors who don't have a long-term practice. No more shoulder stands, headstands, or contorted poses. Instead there is a longer balance section and plenty of slow mindful flowing movement. My Monday class is a source of great joy and a lot of fun.
