Magnolia Zuniga is a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist based in Albuquerque, NM, with over 30 years of combined experience in Ayurveda and yoga. She has studied Ayurveda with Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Marc Halpern, and Dr. KP Khalsa. Her yoga teachers include Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sharath Jois, Bikram Choudhery, and Swami Niranjanananda
Magnolia discovered Ayurveda in 2001 during a chronic illness when other medical approaches failed. She studied in India, practicing with Dr. Anil Kumar and interning as a Pancha Karma therapist. Magnolia is a graduate of the California College of Ayurveda and continues her education with The International Integrative Educational Institute.
Formerly a certified Ashtanga Yoga teacher, Magnolia now advocates for individualized yoga practices tailored to personal healing needs.
Following the Me Too movement and credible allegations of abuse in the yoga community, Magnolia has developed clinical yoga practices for specific conditions and symptoms, focusing on personalized yoga and Ayurveda for holistic healing.
Qualifications
Magnolia Zuniga was a contributing writer at www.sonima.com and City Lifestyle Magazine, and an author of "Strength & Grace: A Collection of Essays by Women of Ashtanga Yoga." She holds the title of Certified Ashtanga Teacher from KPJAYI (K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute) in Mysore, India, and was one of only 20 women worldwide to achieve Advanced A Level Certification. As a direct student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois until his death in 2009, and subsequently his grandson Sharath Jois, Magnolia traveled to India yearly, studying for 3-6 months per year, ultimately achieving the highest level of proficiency in Ashtanga Yoga. Additionally, she holds a Yoga Shikshak specialization in Yoga Nidra from the Bihar School of Yoga, where she lived for one year as a sannyas and was initiated into the sannyas order within the Saraswati lineage. Magnolia has taught yoga internationally in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and France, and owned a yoga studio in San Francisco for over 10 years. Practicing Ayurveda since 2001, she now works as an herbalist in a clinical setting.
