Yv GREAVES
I qualified as a Yoga Teacher in 2014 after having taken my first class over 30 years previous. I always took an interest in physical exercise since aged 11 and dancing in school. From there I danced as a hobby, trained as a pilates teacher, dance teacher and yoga teacher.
Yoga was something introduced to me when at Croydon college doing my A levels. I went along after there was a message from our tutor inviting people to do a free open class. I had heard of yoga but never tried it. It turned out to be a Scaravelli inspired yin class. For a highly active 18 year old, it wasn't as engaging as the dance classes I used to attend, it felt peculiar, but I was left curious. I dipped into classes at gyms and bespoke centres before settling to a regular thrice a week attendance. Fast forward several years, I trained in Pilates in London at the London Contemporary Dance school under the Pilates Foundation. I found great relief doing Pilates, enjoying the precision but it was the yoga that I enjoyed for its mindfulness. A few years later I studies at the Buddhist Centre London a 200 hour course.
Since then I have taught Yoga Pilates and Dance with somatic focus in a round London, with an emphasis on placement, pause and play.
