Embracing Qigong
Qigong is a healing practice that beautifully complements yoga by connecting us to the natural world. Both nurture the body, mind and spirit. While there are many similarities, Qigong also offers some unique aspects
Reading time: 2-3 minutes
Qigong works with Chi (life energy), aligning and gathering healing energy from the earth (yin) and the universe (yang). This energy cultivates health and awakens our healer within, connecting us with nature’s beauty — sun, wind, trees, and animals — while deepening our inner peace.
Fluid movements like Water Waves, Bathing in Golden Light from the Sun, and Crane in Flight harmonise us with nature’s elements. These peaceful movements, combined with our intention, induce the relaxation response in the body, calming the nervous system on a deep level.
Qigong is also energising and dynamic. One transformative exercise named ‘Shaking Like a Tree’ helps release trauma and stress, much like animals in the wild do instinctively. Stand with loose arms, bounce your knees, and shake your entire body while breathing deeply.
Think about what you want to release from your body, mind or emotions. After, pause, breathe and notice ‘chi sensation’ and renewed energy flowing through you.
If you love nature, you’ll love Qigong. It’s a practice that cultivates peace and healing by connecting us with the earth and universe, where we can gather, circulate, and store life energy in our body while holding gratitude for the miracle of life.
Qigong Infused Yoga offers benefits from both mind/body practices while honouring the indigenous wisdom each provides. It was founded out of a deep respect for the profound healing both yoga and Qigong offer.
