Finding peace
Tips for finding inner balance and peace during challenging times. By Jenny Baker
During the past few months, we’ve all felt stress as we deal with uncertainty and try to find some sort of normalcy in our lives. Constant reminders of how we are living in the unknown fill the news and our social media feeds, neither of which help with levels of anxiety and stress. In these challenging times, it’s important to remember that we cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond to our circumstances. In that, we can find comfort and peace no matter what life my throw.
If you find yourself dealing with more stress than usual, use these tips and positive truths to bring peace to your life.
Acknowledge how you’re feeling.
Expressing your emotions and feelings can release tension. Harness that energy into something creative. If you enjoy writing, drawing or singing, make more time for them.
Let yourself be present.
Worrying only escalates stress. Take charge of what you know you can control and don’t worry about what you can’t.
List your stressors.
Take note of what causes your blood pressure to rise and list some things you can do to combat them.
Breathe.
When you feel stressed, pause and take some deep breaths. Spend time connecting with yourself on your yoga mat or in meditation.
Be kind to yourself.
Embrace your feelings and emotions with compassion and let go of judgement.

UNIVERSAL TRUTHS
Here are a few universal truths to remember to bring you peace and calm when you’re feeling stressed.
NOTHING IS PERMANENT: Change is constant, and when we adapt, we grow for the better.
YOU ARE EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE: We often spend too much energy thinking about where we should be or what we should be doing. Realising we are exactly where we should be is powerful and helps us look at the present moment with gratitude instead of guilt.
LAUGHTER AND PLAY ARE KEY IN FINDING JOY AND PEACE: Remember to make time to be with those who bring you happiness and make time for the things that bring you joy.
