Favourite Yoga Charity: HOPE UK

OM Yoga Awards 2024

Reading time: 2-3 minutes

The team at HOPE UK were ecstatic when they discovered they had won the Favourite Yoga Charity award. With just three part-time staff in the UK, the small charity works hard to raise the profile of the organisation and the work done for vulnerable street-connected children in Kolkata, India. In Kolkata, the team is much larger, with over 500 local staff, delivering 58 projects on the ground.

“We are so grateful to the yoga community around the world for the support they give us. Winning the Favourite Yoga Charity Award will hopefully help more people in the yoga community to learn about our work and inspire them to get involved,” said Juliette Whittaker, head of fundraising.

“We are very fortunate to have a dedicated and engaged network of supporters, particularly among the yoga community, many of whom sponsor children in Kolkata through HOPE.

A significant number of these supporters have seen first-hand the work HOPE does and the impact we have.

They know we always put the young people we strive to help at the heart of our mission and are therefore happy to endorse our work. Other supporters have a connection to India and want to give back in some way – supporting HOPE is a very tangible way to do that.”

In fact, 2024 was a momentous year for HOPE after it celebrated its 25th anniversary, reaching a milestone of positively impacting three million individuals from disadvantaged communities. In 2025, the intention is to take stock and find more ways to expand the charity’s reach to help even more people in need.

“In June 2025, we will be running the Yoga for HOPE campaign again and we hope to make it bigger and better than ever! We hope to recruit more yoga teachers to run classes for us, and harness the power of yoga connections to create a movement for positive change.”
