These cork yoga mats find their origins in nature, as they have a bottom layer of natural rubber topped with a comfortable layer of natural cork. Most of us are now familiar with cork, but what makes it a preferred material for yoga mats? Aside from it being a naturally renewable material (it regrows on the same tree after harvest), both students and teachers alike say that cork makes each mat comfortable during every asana. Cork’s natural antimicrobial properties also make these mats better equipped to deal with sweat and odour. Products are wrapped in paper (with as little plastic in the packaging as possible) and shipped in recycled cardboard, with couriers then compensating for any CO2 emissions. And they look quite good too, we reckon!
