Together We Stand
A poem by Vanessa Heerasing
If you remove your belongings
If you remove your wealth
Strip back to you standing with nothing on your back,
Nothing to carry, nothing weighing you down,
Nothing to protect, nothing to brag,
Nothing to breed jealousy, nothing to cause pain,
Nothing to worry about, nothing to hold on to,
What do you have?
You have only you, the real you,
The same as everyone else! Equal!
Each no different each with nothing but each other,
Only together we should stand holding on to each other.
