Welcome

Yoga is a great way to live your best life. It’s ideal for stress relief, it improves flexibility and it keeps you moving in an era when most of us are prone to sit down far too often.

Studies have shown that yoga, meditation and mindfulness are excellent for so many other things too, from weight reduction to better cardio and circulatory health, even long-term disease prevention.

Here at OM, our goal has always been simple: to make the practice as accessible as possible so that everyone — and every body — can enjoy the benefits.

Yoga doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s free and can be as easy as rolling out your mat on the kitchen floor for a couple of minutes in child’s pose to just breathe and recalibrate your brain.

In this issue, you’ll find countless ways to grab a mini yoga fix at any point in your day, as well as ideas to extend and deepen your practice, or explore new and intriguing ideas that might just change your life.

Try following our healthy recipes in the kitchen, or one of our yoga sequences, or maybe sign up to a fancy yoga retreat. You never quite know where this yoga journey will take you.

Keep it simple. There are adaptations and modifications that make yoga’s benefits available to all. If a standing practice is too challenging, for example, there are seated options where you can still reap all the same rewards.

There’s also a bit of a nature focus in this issue, from the benefits of barefoot walking to Sadhguru’s Save our Soil mission to recognise the importance of our land, the source for all that we grow.

The natural world is quite the wonder drug. Pro tip: If all else fails, just put your phone down and go outside. Sometimes just to walk and breathe fresh air outdoors can be all it takes for a quick reset.

Same with yoga. Next time you’re waiting for the kettle to boil, or standing in line at the shops, tune into your body, focus on the breath and enjoy a subtle stretch. These fleeting moments have the power to alter the course of your day.

Stay present, breathe, be still. Do these things consistently and you’re already an advanced yogi!
