Yoga & Aromatherapy
Moving into May, a good oil to use this month is apricot kernel oil (prunus armeniaca).
Whilst we are still in spring, everything is now blooming and growing outdoors and the sun is getting stronger and brighter; it is a time of growth, change and transition.
Apricot kernel oil is a gentle, light, aromatic base oil. As apricots are now in season, using this carrier oil is a lovely way to bring some of the healing benefits of this precious fruit to the body.
It’s a wonderfully moisturising and revitalising oil and makes a nourishing treat for the skin.
As apricot kernel oil is a base oil, add a drop of frankincense oil to it, mix well and then massage well into the face and neck to help, uplift and soothe the skin and bring some natural healing.
While you are giving yourself some much-needed self-care, try placing a couple of drops of ylang ylang in some apricot kernel oil and then massage well into the hair, wrap in a towel and allow the oil to deeply restore the hair. Wash thoroughly afterwards.
Any blends left over can be used on the hands and feet: massage well into the skin and wrap in socks and gloves for a full body treat. This will also give you the added benefit of balancing your life energy and enhancing harmony.
Only use cold-pressed oil as any heat used in production will alter and reduce the quality and effects of the oil. Safe to use on all.
